Visual Arts Scholarships

The School of Visual Arts offers several scholarship opportunities to recognize artistic excellence, academic achievement, and student commitment. These awards help support your education while honoring the legacy of influential artists and educators who paved the way.

Availability, amount of scholarship and how to apply will be announced during the spring semester. Contact our office for the most current information regarding dates and other time sensitive information.

Non-Endowed Scholarships

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Full-Time Junior or Senior status in Visual Arts (minimum 60 credit hours) when receiving the fund.
  • 3.0 Minimum Grade Point Average in Major and 2.5 Cumulative.
  • Recipients are required to attend the Scholarship Award Reception.
  • Recipients are required to send a report to the donors of the scholarship.
  • Full-Time Enrollment Required (minimum of 12 hours must be maintained in the Fall and Spring semesters; any graduating senior with only 1 semester remaining is considered full time regardless of the number of hours scheduled).
  • 1/2 of scholarship awarded beginning of the Fall and 1/2 beginning of the Spring.

Endowed Scholarships

Scholarship Criteria:

  • The applicant must be a U.S. Citizen and a Louisiana Resident.
  • Full-Time Junior or Senior status in Visual Arts (minimum 60 credit hours).
  • 3.0 minimum grade point average in Major and 2.5 Cumulative.
  • Full-Time enrollment required (minimum of 12 hours must be maintained in the Fall and Spring semesters; any graduating senior with only 1 semester remaining is considered full time regardless of the number of hours scheduled).
  • 1/2 of scholarship awarded beginning Fall, 1/2 beginning Spring.

Scholarship Criteria:

  • The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a Louisiana resident, and a graduate of a Louisiana high school.
  • Full-time junior or senior status in Visual Arts (minimum 60 credit hours).
  • 3.0 minimum cumulative grade point average.
  • Full-time enrollment required (minimum of 12 hours must be maintained in spring semester).

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Full-Time Junior or Senior status in Visual Arts (minimum 60 credit hours).
  • 2.5 Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average.
  • Full-time enrollment required (minimum of 12 hours must be maintained in the Fall and Spring semesters; any graduating senior with only 1 semester remaining is considered full time regardless of the number of hours scheduled). 1/2 of scholarship awarded beginning Fall, 1/2 beginning Spring.

Scholarship Criteria:

  • The applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a Louisiana Resident.
  • Full-Time Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year in Visual Arts.
  • 2.5 Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average.
  • Full-time enrollment required (minimum of 12 hours must be maintained in the Fall and Spring  semesters).
  • 1/2 of scholarship awarded beginning Fall, 1/2 beginning Spring.
  • Preference will be given to a student from St. Landry Parish.

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Full-Time Junior or Senior status in Visual Arts (minimum 60 credit hours).
  • 3.0 Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average.
  • Full-time enrollment required (minimum of 12 hours must be maintained in the Fall and Spring semesters; any graduating senior with only 1 semester remaining is considered full time regardless of the number of hours scheduled).

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Full-Time Junior or Senior status in Visual Arts (minimum 60 credit hours).
  • 3.0 Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average.
  • Full-time enrollment required (minimum of 12 hours must be maintained in the Fall and Spring semesters ; any graduating senior with only 1 semester remaining is considered full time regardless of the number of hours scheduled).

Scholarship Criteria:

  • The applicant must be a U.S. Citizen and a Louisiana Resident (being a graduate of a Louisiana high school is also a plus).
  • Applicant must be a full-time student majoring in Visual Arts the semester the student is to receive the funds.
  • Applicant must be a first-generation college student (neither parent nor legal guardians can have earned a college degree).
  • Applicant must be eligible for Pell Grant.
  • Minimum 3.0 High School GPA to apply (Maintenance Requirements: Full-time enrollment and 3.0 cumulative GPA at UL).

Freshman and Sophomore Scholarships

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Full-Time Sophomore for the semester the student is to receive the funds.
  • 2.5 Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average and Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average in Visual Arts.
  • 1/2 of scholarship awarded beginning Fall, 1/2 beginning Spring.
  • Full-Time Enrollment and maintenance of 2.5 Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average and Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average in Visual Arts required (minimum of 12 hours must be maintained in the Fall and Spring semesters).

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Full-Time Sophomore for the semester the student is to receive the funds.
  • (Full-Time second semester Freshman or Full-Time first semester Sophomore).
  • 2.5 Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average.
  • Full-Time Enrollment required (minimum of 12 hours must be maintained in the Fall.
