All students must show proof of certain immunizations. Submit your immunization records to Student Health Services online or during Orientation Check-In.

Use our Estimated Costs Worksheet to begin planning your college finances. You'll have the opportunity to meet with a Financial Aid Counselor during Orientation.

During Orientation, our team will help you register for classes. If you have questions about registration outside of Orientation, please contact the Registrar's Office.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Orientation registration instructions will be mailed to admitted Freshman and Adult students starting October 14, 2024 for Spring Semester students and late February 2025 for Summer & Fall semester students. After these dates, if you do not receive your Orientation registration instructions in the mail within two weeks of your admission to the University, please contact our office directly 337-482-1391 or orientation@louisiana.edu for assistance.

    Transfer Student Orientation registration instructions and academic advising information will be emailed to Transfer students admitted for the Spring Semester beginning on October 28, 2024. If you do not receive this email within one week of admission to the University, please email asc@louisiana.edu

    We do not offer a waiting list for Orientation sessions. If a session is full, students should register for their next choice session. You can log into the Orientation Reservation System and check Orientation availability at any time. If you do change dates, your Orientation fee will be transferred to the new session.

    Should you decide to not attend the University, we must receive written notice via email to cancel your Orientation reservation. Please send your cancellation notice to orientation@louisiana.edu. A full refund, less a $10 processing fee, will be granted if we receive email notice no later than 10 business days (two full weeks) before your scheduled orientation date. NO REFUNDS will be granted after this time.

    Students who register and pay for one semester's Orientation, but then decide to update their start term to another semester can transfer their orientation fee to that new semester. Please note that this transfer of payment between semesters must be done manually through our office. You must contact our office to be manually added into the new Orientation and have your fee transferred to the new semester.

  • Freshman and Adult students will meet with an academic advisor in their academic area during Orientation. Course registration occurs during the Orientation program.

    Transfer Students can meet with their academic advisor prior to Orientation and will be cleared to register for classes, or can meet with their academic advisor during Orientation.

    No. While we value parents' input and support, parents are not allowed in the academic advising sessions or computer labs for course registration. Our academic advising staff is trained to answer all of your questions regarding course registration and placement.

    Depending on your AP exam scores, you may earn credit at the University. Review AP scores required to earn course credit in the Academic Catalog. Additional information about Credit by Exam is available on the Registrar's Office website. 

    Official score reports must be sent to the UL Lafayette Office of Admissions for credit to be awarded. 

    Yes. Advance Credit Exams are offered prior to the start of each semester. Students who earn credit during this time can adjust their class schedule. Questions about schedule adjustment due to advanced credits earned can be directed to the Academic Success Center at 337-482-6818 or success@louisiana.edu.

    Instructions for changing your major before attending Orientation are included in your Orientation confirmation email. You may also change your major during Orientation Check-In at the Change of Major table. Academic advising and course placement are heavily dependent on your major, so be sure that your major is correct at Orientation Check-In.

  • All new degree-seeking students, regardless of classification, are required to attend an Orientation program. Students must stay for the full length of their program in order to receive credit for attending, and to be cleared for course registration.

    No. Only admitted, registered students are allowed to go through the Orientation program.

    The University will seek to accommodate all persons with disabilities during our Orientation programs. If you have a disability that may require accommodations, please notify the Office of Orientation at 337-482-1391 two weeks prior to your Orientation session.

  • To change your SOUL Camp session date, email soulcamp@louisiana.edu with your full name, ULID, and the SOUL Camp session you wish to change to. If space is available in the desired camp session, the change will be granted and you will be emailed confirmation of the change. If space is not available, we will contact you with alternative options. 

    To cancel your SOUL Camp reservation, you must submit an emailed cancellation request to soulcamp@louisiana.edu by July 1. Due to the nature of the SOUL Camp program and the necessity for planning and purchasing supplies, no refunds will be granted after this date. Please include your full name and ULID in the email. A full refund, less a $10 processing fee, will be provided if we receive email notice no later than 11:59 PM on July 1. No refunds will be granted after this time.
