Registering for Orientation

Congratulations on your admission to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette! Your UL Lafayette college career begins with New Student Orientation.

All new students must complete in-person Orientation before registering for classes (except for students in Online Degree Programs, who complete a separate Online Orientation for Online Learners).

Your advising and course registration times will be assigned according to your scheduled Orientation session. Because space in each session is limited, we encourage you to register for Orientation as soon as possible. After selecting your Orientation date, you will pay your Orientation fee to reserve your spot.

Orientation Registration Process

Skip this step if you have already activated your ULID and have a password.

Use the ULID (C00######) found on your acceptance email to activate your account. Follow the prompts to select your security questions and create your password.

Your ULID and password will be needed for course registration and many aspects of campus life. Be sure to have your login credentials on hand for Orientation.

Account Activation Resources

Skip this step if you have already set up MFA.

After activating your ULID, be sure to configure your Multi-Factor Authentication settings. For instructions and more information, visit the IT Service Desk's MFA website.

If you need additional assistance configuring MFA settings, please contact the IT Service Desk at 337-482-4357.

Use your ULID and password to log into the Orientation Reservation System.

Access the Orientation Reservation System

Once in the Orientation Registration System, view all the tasks you must complete before attending Orientation.

The task list outlines each step of the Orientation process in great detail. Some items will automatically check off upon completion, while others are manual for you to mark as complete. The first task you should complete is to register for Orientation (see Step 5 below).

On the task list, click "Register for Orientation" and then "Next." As you complete each page and all required fields, click "Save and Continue" at the bottom to move to the next page.

  1. Personal Information - Be sure to provide Emergency Contact information and a secondary email address that you check regularly. Do not use your high school email as most do not work after graduation.
  2. Questionnaire - Answer all questions and let us know if you require special accommodations (especially dietary) while at Orientation.
  3. Dates - Choose your orientation date. This date is important as you will be advised and register for classes based on this date. This is also where you will select overnight housing (offered only at our two-day Freshman sessions). Once you select your date, click the housing check box that will appear.
  4. Parent & Family Orientation - If you have a parent or guardian who wishes to attend Parent & Family Orientation, please register them here. Students are limited to two guests for Parent & Family Orientation. Parent & Family Orientation is only offered at our two-day Freshman sessions.
  5. SOUL Camp - SOUL Camp is an extended orientation program for new students beginning in the Summer or Fall semesters. Details about the benefits of this amazing experience are located at the top of this page.
  6. My Reservation - Thoroughly review your reservation and make any necessary edits by clicking the "Edit Section" button. This page has an itemized list of your charges. Once you are ready to submit, click "Pay Now" at the top of the page.
  7. Pay Now Screen - After clicking the "Pay Now" button, you will be directed to the payment portal. See Step 6 below for payment details.

To immediately secure a spot in your selected Orientation session, pay your Orientation fee online with a Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard, or Discover). To do so, click the "Pay Now" button on the "My Reservation" screen in the Orientation Registration System and follow the prompts.

Alternative Payment Options

If you prefer to pay by check or money order, mail your payment to the Office of Orientation, P.O. Box 43685, Lafayette, LA 70504. Make the check payable to UL Lafayette and include your ULID on the memo line.

Important Note: Your Orientation reservation is incomplete and your spot will not be reserved until your Orientation payment is received. If your selected Orientation session fills to capacity before payment is received, you will be contacted to select a different Orientation session.

Refund Policy

Should you decide to not attend the University, we must receive written notice via email to cancel your Orientation reservation. Please send your cancellation notice to orientation@louisiana.edu. A full refund, less a $10 processing fee, will be granted if we receive email notice no later than 10 business days (two full weeks) before your scheduled orientation date. NO REFUNDS will be granted after this time.

Check your email immediately after completing Orientation registration. You will receive important details to help you prepare for Orientation.

About one week before your scheduled Orientation session, you will receive a final confirmation of your registration via email.

Orientation-related emails will be sent to the email address provided when registering for Orientation. Be sure to check that email address regularly.

The following details are for Transfer Students only. First-time freshmen should disregard, as they will be advised during their scheduled Orientation.

Step 8 - Lifting your Transfer Orientation Hold

After you schedule an Orientation session, our office will lift your Orientation hold within one business day.

If you require urgent assistance, please contact us during regular business hours (Monday-Thursday 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM and Friday 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM) and we will lift your hold manually. You can call us at 337-482-1391 or email orientation@louisiana.edu.

Step 9 - Transfer Student Advising & Course Registration

Only Transfer students can be advised before attending Orientation. Please see the Transfer Welcome Email, sent to you from the Academic Success Center, for those instructions. Access the Transfer Advisor Directory to find your advisor's contact information.

Once advised, your advisor will lift your advising hold. After all of your holds are lifted (including the immunization hold), you can schedule classes once your registration time begins.

For assistance with Course Registration, visit the Registrar's Office website or contact their team directly at registrar@louisiana.edu or 337-482-6291.

If you are unable to get advised and register for classes before Orientation, you can do so at Orientation as there is dedicated time built into the program.

See you soon, Ragin' Cajun!

Our Student Orientation Staff, faculty, and staff look forward to meeting you at Orientation. Congratulations on your acceptance and welcome to the UL Lafayette family!
