Graduate Assistantship & Fellowship Orientation and Hiring

The Graduate School is excited to welcome you to your new graduate assistantship or fellowship role!

You will need to complete the following steps as part of the hiring process. 

1. Complete your hiring packet. 
If you have not already, you will receive an email from the Office of Human Resources. This email will include instructions and necessary forms that can be completed electronically. If you have not yet received this email, DON’T WORRY. Your paperwork is likely still processing. 

2. Visit Human Resources.
You must go to the Human Resources office in Martin Hall Room 170 to present several documents in person. You must complete this task between now and the close of business day on Friday, January 10. The original documents needed include: 

For U.S. Citizens:
•    Valid photo ID (e.g., Driver's License, State ID, School ID)
•    Social Security Card
•    Proof of citizenship (e.g., Birth Certificate, Birth Card, Passport)
•    Voided check or Direct Deposit Form from your financial institution

For International Students:
•    Passport
•    Visa
•    Social Security Card
•    I-20 or other Work Authorization document
•    I-94
•    Voided check or Direct Deposit Form from your financial institution

3. Attend the Graduate Assistantship and Fellowship Orientation.
You must attend this orientation on Monday, January 13 in Moody Hall Room 103. Registration begins at 8 am. The orientation will end for domestic students at noon and, for international students, at 1 pm. 

4. Complete Mandatory Trainings:
You will be responsible for completing several mandatory trainings within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter. Instructions for completing these trainings will be provided to you by Human Resources during the Graduate Assistantship and Fellowship Orientation and as part of your hiring process.

  • Ethics Training for Public Servants (1 hr.)
  • Shots Fired on Campus: Surviving an Active Shooter Situation (30 min.)
  • Cybersecurity Awareness (30 min.)
  • Reporting Power-Based Violence (1 hr.)
  • Preventing Harassment and Discrimination (2.25 hrs.)
