Volunteer

If you volunteered during your time here on campus, or you are just discovering new opportunities to reconnect through your time and talents, you and alumni everywhere can make a difference through your involvement with the UL Lafayette Alumni Association.

From helping plan Homecoming events to helping recruit future Ragin' Cajuns, you can learn about volunteer opportunities and get involved. The Acadiana community, Ragin' Cajun fans, friends of the University as well as alumni, retirees, faculty and staff are welcome and encouraged to get involved with the UL Lafayette Alumni Association.

“Five things alumni bring that are important to their alma mater: advice, service, money, new students, and ambassadorial representation.”

– Handbook of Institutional Advancement

A university benefits from the strength of its alumni program. Similarly, the value of a person’s degree is only enhanced by the strength, growth and continued enhancement of his or her university. It is extremely important to the life a university to have active and strong alumni. As alumni, each person has some responsibility to the University. They should promote it, defend it, and be positive about it.

Together with the Office of Enrollment Management, we are looking for volunteers to write letters to students who have been accepted into the University but have not yet registered for classes. Our yearly goal is to write over 1,000 letters!

This is a wonderful opportunity to share your experience as a UL Lafayette student and help attract prospective students. Our hope is that the connections volunteers make with these students will illustrate why UL Lafayette is such a special place!

Our Alumni Presidents Council is made up of each individual who has served as President of our Association. Our first President, Pothier J. Voorhies, was installed in 1904.

The Alumni Presidents Council gathers periodically for fellowship and to discuss ways that they can assist the Alumni Association to carry out its mission of fostering the ties of Alumni to their Alma Mater. The Alumni Presidents Council has assisted the Association financially in ways such as a Named Room in the Breaux Wing and annually sponsoring tailgate. In addition, these members work with the Alumni Association to create various engagement events such as a speaker series.
