Walk of Honor

The Walk of Honor is one of UL Lafayette's most meaningful traditions, celebrating every graduate of the University, from its days as SLI and USL to the present.

Beginning near Martin Hall and winding through the heart of campus, this commemorative walkway features the names of more than 120,000 Ragin' Cajun alumni, serving as a lasting tribute to the generations who have shaped the University. A granite monument at the entrance welcomes visitors and symbolizes the lifelong connection between alumni and their alma mater.

While the UL Lafayette Alumni Association proudly celebrates and shares this tradition, the Walk of Honor is owned by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is maintained by the University's Office of Facility Management.

Our History

The idea came from 1987 Alumni Association President Kenneth Ardoin. Groundbreaking followed at Homecoming.

Bricks for the classes of 1903 through 1997 were funded entirely through donations. Starting with the Class of 1998, graduating students began covering their own brick as part of graduation — securing the Walk's future for good. In 2013, a student-designed Quad renovation added thousands more bricks to the walkway.
