Host your next celebration somewhere with a story. The Alumni Center has been part of UL Lafayette's campus fabric for decades — and it's ready to be part of yours.
About the Venue
Built in 1936 for Lafayette businessman Maurice Heymann, the house that's now the Alumni Center was designed by a young A. Hays Town — the architect who would go on to design more than 1,000 homes across Louisiana and the South. Town later called it the best work of his career. Heymann requested a French provincial design, styled after his wife Germaine's birthplace in France, filled with balconies, breezeways, and light.
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Association purchased the home in 1991 and renovated it beginning in 1994, preserving the character of the original house while turning it into one of campus's most-loved landmarks. A boardroom was added behind the house in 1995 (renovated in 2018), and in 1998 the wing housing Alumni Association staff was dedicated in U.S. Senator John B. Breaux's name.
Today, the Alumni Center is home to University Advancement and the Alumni Association — and open to the public for weddings, receptions, meetings, and celebrations of every kind.
