Meet Lucille

Lucille is more than a 1958 Ford Fairlane. She is a symbol of love, tradition, and Ragin' Cajun pride.

Bruce and Jane Sawvel's story began at the University of Southwestern Louisiana in the 1970s. After a memorable blind-date mix-up, one phone call led to a lifetime together. Their journey began on this campus and has remained rooted in the university they proudly call home.

Named after actress Lucille Ball, their beloved Fairlane has spent more than 15 years bringing smiles to Homecoming celebrations, Christmas parades, and countless community events.

Today, Bruce and Jane have entrusted Lucille to the UL Lafayette Alumni Association as a lasting gift, preserving a cherished piece of university history for generations of alumni.
