Meet Rade Pavic: MBA Graduate Preparing for a Bright Future

Rade Pavic began pursuing his career in business when he came to the U.S. from Pancevo, Serbia, to earn his bachelor’s degree in business administration. After graduating from Louisiana State University in Alexandria in 2019, he decided to prolong his stay in the Pelican State.

Enrolling in the MBA program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette allowed him to live in a larger city and become involved with the community while developing his skills and experience.

“Past graduate students, and friends of mine, had told me great things about the University and the city of Lafayette,” he says.Rade Pavic in the Graduate School Office

“I was challenged with adapting to a new city and school, and the people around me were always kind and helpful.”

Through the MBA program, Rade has reaped of the benefits of hands-on learning.

“I learned essential knowledge about finance, marketing, and leadership. Each course had a unique way of giving me valuable business knowledge and perspectives.”

“I have been able to work on many projects and have collaborated with multiple companies through consulting, which helped me experience the real business world that awaits me in the future.”

UL Lafayette‘s MBA program provides a rigorous education in business knowledge, skills, theories, and practices. It was ranked among the country's best in the U.S. News & World Report's 2021 edition of "Best Graduate Schools."

“I knew this program would give me the educational opportunities I needed to be successful in my chosen career path.”

Studying in another country, especially during a pandemic, has brought its challenges. Yet, it hasn’t slowed him down. Rade completed the MBA program’s 33 credit hours within four semesters, and has worked hard to make the most of his time at UL Lafayette.

While pursuing his MBA, Rade continued to build up his resume by working as a graduate assistant in the UL Lafayette Graduate School. He provided valuable support to admissions and recruitment activities, and assisted with events for current students.

Building and maintaining a support network has been key to his success.

Rade cites his coworkers, supervisors, professors, and friends as sources of support and encouragement. Above all, he credits his family back home in Serbia, who “supported me in every single step reaching this milestone in my life and without whom none of this would have been possible.”

As he prepares to leave UL Lafayette, Rade looks forward to starting a career in either the automotive or banking industry, ideally within the U.S.

It’s time, he says, to “keep on chasing my own American dream.”
