Organizations & Associations

Join student organizations and professional associations for UL Lafayette economics, finance, and insurance and risk management students.

Some of the most valuable parts of your degree happen outside the classroom. Our student organizations connect you with classmates who share your interests and with the professionals who hire in your field, through guest speakers, networking events, service projects, and research.

Joining an organization is also one of the best ways to build leadership experience before you graduate. Serving as an officer, planning an event, or representing UL Lafayette at a conference gives you real accomplishments to talk about in interviews and on scholarship applications. Many of our organizations welcome students from any major, so you don't have to wait until you've declared to get involved.

These Moody College of Business organizations are open to students in every business major:

  • Beta Gamma Sigma: The international honor society for business students at AACSB-accredited schools, recognizing top academic achievement.
  • Delta Sigma Pi, Kappa Xi Chapter: A professional business fraternity focused on professional development, service, and networking.
  • Student Government Association, Moody College of Business: Represents business students and helps shape student life in the college.

Collegiate Economics Organization

The Collegiate Economics Organization connects students with economics faculty and classmates through networking, community service projects, campus outreach, free economics tutoring, and on-campus research.

Financial Management Association

The Financial Management Association recognizes outstanding finance and economics students and bridges the gap between academic and professional finance.

Financial Management Association National Honor Society

The FMA National Honor Society rewards scholarship and achievement in finance. It's the only international honor society that specifically recognizes outstanding achievement in the finance discipline.

Risk Management & Insurance Society

Open to finance, insurance, and risk management majors and minors and any other interested student, the Risk Management & Insurance Society hosts meetings and social events where industry leaders, alumni, and guest speakers share their experience, and helps members find internship and career opportunities in the field.

Professional Associations

Professional associations connect you with working economists and industry professionals before you graduate. Economics majors receive special student membership status in the American Economic Association, the Southern Economic Association, and the Southwestern Social Science Association, which hold student sessions at their annual conferences.
