Minors

Add a health informatics minor to your UL Lafayette degree and learn how health information is captured, transmitted, and used across health care.

As technology becomes more entwined with health care, health information professionals manage and analyze an enormous amount of digital information. Health informatics focuses on the information systems, informatics principles, and technology that support the full continuum of health care delivery. It draws on management science, health care delivery and public health, patient safety, information science, and computer technology.

What You'll Study

The minor is 20 credit hours of health informatics coursework, covering health data management tools, health information systems and technology, how health information systems are selected and implemented, and data analytics in health care, ending with a capstone course.

Who Can Earn the Minor
