Share your accounting career experience with current UL Lafayette students, or tell us what you've been up to since graduation.
This is an exciting and dynamic time for the Department of Accounting, as we strive to enhance the value, quality, and impact of accounting education for our undergraduate and graduate students. A major determinant of our success is our students' exposure to, and opportunity to contribute to, real businesses and organizations. You're invited to partner with us in enriching our students' learning experience. There are many ways to get involved:
- Serve as an internship host: Business majors, including accounting, are eligible for an internship starting in their junior year. Hands-on experience is a critical part of preparing effective professionals, and the quality of the placement site is critical to a successful internship. Learn more about the Moody Business Internship Program, or email us to advertise an intern position at your organization.
- Speak to a class or student organization: Hearing firsthand about the challenges and rewards of a career in accounting can make a lasting impact on students. If you're willing to speak to a class or student organization, or host students at your organization, contact us.
- Mentor a student: Offer resume reviews, interview prep, or career guidance as students plan for life after graduation — including through the ASRE Accounting Pathway's research mentoring.
- Serve on our Advisory Board: Help shape the direction of the program as a working accounting professional.
- Recruit through speed interviewing: Meet Beta Alpha Psi and IMA Student Chapter members through our semester speed-interviewing and professional development events.
- Teach as a supporting (adjunct) faculty member: If you hold a master's degree and significant, current professional experience relevant to accounting, you may qualify to teach with us as AACSB-recognized "professionally-qualified" faculty, at the undergraduate or graduate level.
- Offer a professional membership discount: If your professional organization offers a reduced-rate student membership, let us know — we'd love to share the opportunity with our students.
Your experience is a gift — pass it on. In the Department of Accounting, we're always looking for alumni voices, perspectives, and expertise to enrich our students' education.
