Accounting Academics

Our accounting majors learn the skills needed to gather, record, analyze, interpret, and communicate information about an individual's or organization's financial performance and risks.

If you have an orientation toward numbers or a strong interest in business and finance, accounting is the right choice for you — a major that leads to high-paying, highly visible roles that are always in demand, regardless of the economy.

Here in the Department of Accounting, we focus on preparing you for a professional career in accounting. You'll work through a curriculum centered on the traditional fields of auditing, income tax, managerial accounting, and not-for-profit accounting, plus emerging specialties like fraud examination and systems analysis — alongside courses in other business areas, the arts, humanities, sciences, and communications, for the broad educational background today's business world demands. Our graduates are recruited by regional and international accounting firms, corporations, banks and financial institutions, and agencies including the IRS.

We're one of only 175 accounting programs worldwide with AACSB accounting accreditation, and our CPA exam pass rates are among the highest in the state.
