Beyond coursework, Moody Business runs a handful of signature events each year that bring students together with employers, alumni, and each other.
Moody Business Week
An annual week of professional-development programming, typically including an employer/alumni panel, a student organization and entrepreneur showcase ("Moody Fest"), a resume and LinkedIn workshop with Career Services, and the Beta Gamma Sigma induction ceremony alongside the college's scholarship banquet.
Professional Etiquette Dinner
A dining event for Moody Business students to practice table manners and professional conversation ahead of employer meals — a four-course dinner paired with etiquette tips, hosted jointly by the UL Lafayette Office of Career Services and Moody Business. Faculty, staff, and community partners can volunteer as table hosts, each receiving a complimentary ticket to network with students at their table.
Awards Banquet
Each year, Moody Business hosts a scholarship and awards banquet to recognize the achievements of its students, faculty, and the college as a whole. The event includes check-in and networking followed by the ceremony and is invitation-only with professional business attire. Local firms sponsor the banquet at Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels; sponsorship opportunities are available each year.
Competitions & Research Showcase
Put your skills to the test in the Pitch Competition, the Moody Integrity Cup ethics case competition, and the Student Research Showcase. Each offers cash awards and judging panels of faculty, alumni, and industry leaders.

MCOBA Student Ambassadors
MCOBA Student Ambassadors are the face of Moody Business. Launched in Fall 2026, the program develops communicators and leaders who represent the college to current students, prospective students, and the public. Ambassadors share why business education matters, the careers it opens, and how to succeed at Moody Business.
What Ambassadors Do
- Welcome prospective students and families at Preview Days, Junior Day, and high school events.
- Mentor fellow business students in their majors.
- Represent the college on social media and at events like Homecoming, Moody Business Week, and commencement.
- Advise the Dean's Office on student-centered issues, including curriculum, career resources, and the college's strategic plan.
Ambassadors typically commit 15 to 30 hours per semester. In return, they're recognized at commencement, build relationships with college leadership, alumni, and local business leaders, and represent Moody Business at high-profile campus and community events.
Who Can Apply
Applications open at the beginning of each fall and spring semester. Applicants should have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher and be eager to grow and represent the college. The program includes 20 to 25 ambassadors at a time, with at least one student from each of the college's eight majors.
