Later this week on Thursday afternoon, February 25, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:30pm in the Alumni Center Boardroom, the Office of Distance Learning will host Share Fair 2016 featuring faculty presenters discussing issues that matter for the delivery of high quality hybrid and online courses.
From 1:55 to 2:40 pm, a panel will feature a broad range of faculty perspectives on their experiences in the trenches teaching hybrid and online courses.
Dr. Ryan Teten, Department Head of Political Science, will moderate the discussion. Dr. Teten was certified last summer and taught his first online class in Winter 2015. Master Instructor Andrea Leonard is a veteran online instructor being one of the first to put a STEM course online in fall 2010. Since then, she has experimented with lots of technology and Moodle integration as well as taught adult online learners in accelerated terms. Her experience is complemented by Bertha Myers, a 33-year veteran K-12 educator and now Instructor in Education Foundations and Leadership. Mrs. Myers teaches hybrid courses to students during their first year in the Education program. Joining the panel to provide the perspective of teaching graduate students online is Deedra Harrington. When she is not saving lives in Girard Park (yes - it is true), she is a teaching in the online graduate Nursing programs.
“The panel was selected for their diverse disciplinary backgrounds, but also because of their varied approaches to delivering high quality hybrid and online experiences,” stated Claire Arabie, Instructional Support Manager in the Office of Distance Learning. “I really hope faculty who are considering hybrid and online learning will participate in Share Fair, but especially in this panel.”
Faculty, Department Heads, Deans, and staff are invited to participate in Share Fair. Bring your questions that you want the panel to address or email them ahead of time to distancelearning@louisiana.edu.
