One of the valuable services provided to our faculty is our testing administration service.
By offering this service to faculty, we can eliminate the need for extended time and reduced distraction testing to take place with the faculty member. Please know, however, that a student need not test at ODS if it would be easier for the faculty member to administer the exam him/herself—as long as the student receives the approved accommodations determined by ODS. Approved accommodations can be found on the Faculty Notification Letter emailed to you directly from our office. Please read the letter carefully as they are not all the same.
Exam Handling
Please observe the following policy as it relates to the handling of tests:
Students registered with our office are to discuss exam administration details with faculty at the start of each semester or at the time they are approved for exam accommodations by ODS. If it is agreed upon that they will test at ODS, faculty will receive an Alternative Testing Agreement via the link in the Faculty Notification Letter from ODS or by accessing the AIM portal in ULINK. The Alternative Testing Agreement provides to us your instructions for the exam (i.e. use of a calculator, note cards, formula sheets, etc).
Students are required to schedule the test with our office at least 3 business days in advance.
If a student is taking a night course, they are required to come in to our office to test by 3 p.m. at the latest on the day of the exam. Our office closes at 5 p.m.
Exam Delivery
Faculty can choose several options to get the test to ODS:
- The test can be uploaded directly into the AIM portal (preferred)
- The test can be hand delivered by faculty
- The test can be email attached: ODS@louisiana.edu
The test should never be sent through campus mail.
The test should never be given to the student taking the test to deliver to ODS.
Exam Delivery
Upon completion of the test, our office will do one of the following as indicated by the faculty on the Alternative Testing Agreement:
- Scan and email to faculty
- Will pick up
- Text for pick up
- Online Exam
We require the test be signed for by either the faculty member or the departmental secretary that will be picking up the exam.
We will also not allow the student who took the test to deliver it back to their professor or department.
If you have any questions about our policy, please feel free to contact our office. Our goal is to ensure test security and provide a seamless test taking process for both the student and faculty member.
