On game day Nov. 1, Homecoming 2008 activities will kick into high gear early in the morning at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

The UL Lafayette Alumni Association’s Ragin’ Road race will kick off pre-game activities as it takes to the streets at 8 a.m. at the Alumni Center on St. Mary Boulevrad.

An Open House at the Alumni Center will start at 9:30 a.m. with the Homecoming Parade rolling from Cajun Field to the Alumni Center at 10 a.m. This year’s grand marshal is Dean Raymond Blanco.

At Cajun Field, the Tailgating Cookoff begins at 1:30 p.m. and at 4 p.m., Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns will take on Florida International.

Haltime festivities will include the crowning of Leslie Saloom as the 2008 Homecoming Queen and the honoring of Col. Charles DeBellevue as this year’s Outstanding Alumni. Also, four former Ragin’ Cajun athletes will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. They include: Alana Addison, Xavier Hernandez and Lana and Brandon Stokley.

This year’s Homecoming game marks the 1000th football game for Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns. The stage is set to “Sell-Out the Swamp” as Tyrell Fenroy goes for 1,000 yards in the Ragin’ Cajuns 1,000th game. Fenroy needs 30 rushing yards to reach 1,000 for the season, making him just the seventh player in NCAA history with four 1,000-yard rushing seasons.

The first 10,000 fans will receive a “Tyrell Towel” courtesy of Absolutely Irresistible Monogramming & Gifts and Tube Tech Services. Tickets remain for the game and can be purchased at the Cajundome Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by calling 337-262-8686 and online at www.ticketmaster.com.

Cox 4 will go live from Cajun Field at 3:30 p.m. with a 35 minute pre-game show. Jimmy Frederick will handle the play-by-play duties and Jeff Palermo is the color analyst.

The homecoming game will be replayed on CST on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at a time to be determined. CST has 1.5 million viewers in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, parts of Mississippi, Alabama, the Florida panhandle and Virginia.
