UL Lafayette recognizes faculty each year with the Distinguished Professor and the Dr. Ray P. Authment Teaching Excellence Awards. Established in 1965, the Distinguished Professor Award recognizes faculty for their research activities, teaching effectiveness, and contributions to their profession and campus life. To date one hundred and fifty-two faculty members have been honored with the award. The Dr. Ray P. Authement Excellence in Teaching Award was established in 1992 to recognize faculty for their commitment to teaching, innovation, and pedagogical scholarship, twenty-nine faculty have been recognized with the award.
