The Cajuns Can Care Food Drive will be held from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, at the Alumni Center. Canned goods that are dropped off will be donated to local food pantries.

“It’s a way to lend a helping hand so that some area families can enjoy a nice holiday,” said Monique Villien, Homecoming 2016 chair.

Also today, Wear Red, Get Fed will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Boucher Street, near the Student Union. Students who wear Ragin’ Cajuns gear will be able to enjoy a brisket sandwich, chips, fruit dessert and a drink while the free lunch lasts. The University program Council will sponsor the event.

“Wear Red, Get Fed is relatively new, only a few years old, but it continues to grow in popularity,” said Ruben Henderson, UPC advisor.

This evening, the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum will host Alumni Night at the Museum. The museum is at 710 E. St. Mary Blvd., on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus.

The public, including alumni, can attend a free reading by poet Jarita Davis, a University alum, and view pieces in the art museum’s collection. The reading will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The museum will open at 5:30 p.m. for Alumni Night.

“Attendees can listen the lecture by Jarita Davis, and have a book signed by the author, or look at what the museum has to offer,” said Lauren Fitts, event coordinator for the museum.
