The Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum welcomes visitors to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus with three exhibitions this summer.

“Selections from the UL College of Art Faculty” will feature pieces in mediums such as visual arts, performing arts, architecture, and design. It will be on display from June 6 to Dec. 12.

The “Environmental Impact” exhibition will provide a glimpse at paintings, photographs, prints, installations and sculptures by contemporary artists. The works explore issues such as land development, wildlife, fire, drought, water rights, oil spills, climate change and nuclear waste. The exhibit will be on display from May 23 to Aug. 8.

“Her Self: Works by Kathy Sosa” features the San Antonio artist’s paintings. They are inspired by Mexican folklore and Guatemalan culture. The exhibit also will include a collection of Sosa’s huipiles, which are embroidered tunics worn by women in Mexico and Central America. It opened on April 25, and will be on display until Aug. 29.

A reception for the three exhibits will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 5. It’s free and open to the public.
