The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has one of the top 10 electrical engineering graduate programs in the nation, according to Spring 2015 rankings issued by graduateprograms.com.

UL Lafayette is No. 9; other Top 10 programs include The Ohio State University, Rice University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Princeton.

Rankings are based on ratings and reviews by current and recent graduate students that were posted on graduateprograms.com. They reflect data gathered between Sept. 1, 2012, and March 31, 2015, including reviews posted by more than 70,000 students participating in over 1,600 graduate programs nationwide.

According to graduateprograms.com, rankings are determined by calculating the average score for each program based on 15 categories, such as academic competitiveness, career support, and financial aid. “These scores are then compared across all ranked schools for that program and are translated into a final ranking for that graduate program . . .” the website states.

A graduate program is not ranked until a minimum threshold of graduate student surveys is completed for that program, according to that website.
