Good to Geaux

In Spring 2021, the Good to Geaux program began offering to-go meals offered in green, reuseable Good to Geaux containers at Lagniappe Café, Café Fleur de Lis, and Cypress Lake Dining Hall. Good to Geaux containers is the only to-go option at these locations.
 
All branded food locations (such as Chick-fil-A and McAlister's) will continue to serve food in their branded to-go packaging.
 
Instead of disposing containers into landfill bins, you will return empty Good to Geaux containers to one of five OZZI machines stationed at dining locations across campus (see list below). The containers will be washed and sanitized then used again for future meal service.   
 
 

How it Works


Redeem or purchase a new token for a Good to Geaux container.

 


Pay for your meal and get your food in a Good to Geaux container.
 

 

Enjoy your meal.


Empty (and, if possible, rinse) the Good to Geaux container.
 



Return the Good to Geaux container to an OZZI machine on campus and receive a token for your next container.


Get a Token

If you have a meal plan, a voucher for your initial Good to Geaux container will be provided to you.  Look for communication from Housing or Campus Food Services for more details on where to pick up your voucher.

If you have a meal plan but do not live on campus, you can pick up your initial OZZI token at the front desk of Cypress Lake Dining Hall.

If you do not have a meal plan, your first token can be purchased from the front desk of Cypress Lake Dining Hall or you can pay for your container at check out at Lagniappe Café and Café Fleur de Lis. Once you have a container, you'll be able to return it for a token to use for your next Good to Geaux container.

When you return your Good to Geaux container to an OZZI machine after use, you’ll get another token to be used at your next to-go meal. You won’t need to purchase another token unless you lose it.

You may purchase as many Good to Geaux containers as you need. Your declining balance can be used to purchase a new or additional container.  

Use Token for Good to Geaux Meal Container

Use your meal swipe, declining balance, or card to pay for your meal and your token to pay for your Good to Geaux container. If you do not have a token or used container to exchange for a clean one, you will be charged a $4.99 replacement fee for a new, clean container.

Take and eat your meal as usual.

You cannot use your own reusable to-go container. Health and safety standards prevent the use of containers from outside sources.

Return Empty Container into OZZI Machine

When finished, simply remove all food remnants and insert the empty Good to Geaux container into an OZZI machine at one of the following locations:

  • Cypress Lake Dining Hall (2nd floor Student Union)
  • Lagniappe Café (1st floor Student Union)
  • Café Fleur di Lis (by Legacy Park)
  • Ragin’ Cajuns Food Court (Agnes Edwards)
  • Athletics Training Table (Cox Building)

UL Dining Services staff will remove the dirty containers from the OZZI machine. The containers are then commercially washed and sanitized before each use.

If your Good to Geaux container breaks, you will need to purchase a new one.

Receive New Token to Use at Next Meal

The OZZI machine will give you a new token. This token will be used to get a clean Good to Geaux container at your next on-campus meal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to use a Good to Geaux container?
All take away meals served at Lagniappe Café, Café Fleur di Lis, and Cypress Lake Dining Hall will be served in Good to Geaux containers. If you lose your token or do not have one, you can purchase one at the Cypress Lake Dining Hall front desk or at checkout at Lagniappe Café and Café Fleur di Lis for $4.99.

Can I use the Good to Geaux container at any retail food location on campus?
You can use the Good to Geaux container at Cypress Lake Dining Hall (2nd floor Student Union), Lagniappe Café (1st floor Student Union), and Café Fleur di Lis (by Legacy Park). All branded food locations (like Chick-fil-A and McAlister's) continue to serve food in their branded to-go packaging.

What if I lose or forget my token or container?
If you do not have a token or used Good to Geaux container to exchange for a clean one, you will be charged a $4.99 replacement fee for a new, clean container. You’ll then be back into the system as usual – eat your meal, return your container, and get a new token.

Why can’t I re-use my container without having it washed by UL Dining Services?
For health and safety reasons, only properly cleaned and sanitized containers handled by UL Dining Services can be used in service areas. This protects the health and safety of everyone.

Can I bring my own reusable to-go container?
No. Good to Geaux containers are commercially washed and sanitized before each use. Health and safety standards prevent the use of containers from outside sources.

What if I have the need for multiple containers?
You may purchase as many Good to Geaux containers as you need. At the beginning of each school year, students with a meal plan are given their first container.  Additional containers can be purchased for $4.99 each. 

What if my Good to Geaux container breaks?
You’ll need to purchase another container. Good to Geaux containers are sturdy and we do not anticipate them braking. However, if your container breaks, please bring it to the Cypress Lake Dining Hall front desk to be properly recycled.

What happens if the OZZI machine is not working?
A sign will be posted on the OZZI machine with alternative drop-off instructions. For further help, go to the front desk at Cypress Lake Dining Hall or contact Campus Food Services at (337) 482-2871. Disposable containers will be utilized in these incidents, with every effort to get the system back up-and-running as soon as possible.

Why is the University using the OZZI system?

We are also committed to making every member of our campus community more aware of our impacts on the environment and our community, at the institutional level and at our own personal level.

One of the University’s strategic objectives is to become a Zero Waste University by managing our resources more effectively – from initial planning and purchasing to disposal. With an increased focus on to-go meals, switching to a reusable to-go container system will prevent upwards of 225,000 disposable containers from going to landfills and potentially ending up as litter on campus and in our community. Reusable systems also reduce the cost associated with large volumes of disposables, from both procurement and waste management.

The Good to Geaux containers are better quality products that are safer for use as they are BPA free and microwave, dishwasher, and freezer safe. They are also leak-proof and made in the U.S.A.
