| Tribute Set for UL Lafayette History Instructor | ||||||||||||||||||||
LAFAYETTE – A tribute to the late Bradley H. Pollock, a University of Louisiana at Lafayette history instructor, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, in the UL Lafayette quadrangle, behind Martin Hall. Pollock died Oct. 1. He taught at UL Lafayette for 25 years; his courses included African history, African-American history and global issues. Pollock received a master’s degree in history from UL Lafayette in 1980 and continued his graduate studies in history at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He held a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College of Ohio. In 1984, Pollock returned to Lafayette as a faculty member. He was a community activist who worked to raise awareness of the importance of African-American culture and racial equality. “Professor Pollock touched the lives of countless students in his 25 years at our university,” said friend and colleague Dr. Robert Carriker, a professor of history and head of UL Lafayette’s History Department. |
