| IT’S BON VOYAGE TIME FOR TEAM BEAUSOLEIL |
||||||||||||||||||||
| Bon Voyage. Goodbye. UL Lafayette’s Team BeauSoleil is celebrating the completion of its solar home with a Bon Voyage celebration on Sept. 17. The goodbyes start at 6:30 p.m. A christening of the BeauSoleil home is set for 7 p.m. The home will leave Lafayette and make its way to the National Mall in Washington D.C. next week. The public is invited to attend the Bon Voyage celebration and see the completed home for the first time. The event will be held at the United Way Complex at 215 East Pinhook Road. Cajun music, jambalaya and drinks will be provided free of charge. Team BeauSoleil is the UL Lafayette team that was selected as one of only 20 teams from around the world to participate in the international design and build competition called the Solar Decathlon. The Solar Decathlon is a competition for teams of university students that compete to design, build, and operate an attractive, effective and energy-efficient solar powered house. Later this month, the teams will join the competition's organizers and sponsors in Washington, D.C., to assemble a "solar village" on the National Mall. (www.solardecathlon.org) -30- |
